In accordance with the amendment introduced by the Regulation Amending the Regulation on the Implementation of the Turkish Citizenship Law, published in the Official Gazette on December 11, 2023, explicit provisions have been delineated pertaining to the acquisition of Turkish citizenship through the acquisition of immovable property amounting to 400,000 US Dollars.

The amendment stipulates that the acquired immovable properties must possess the characteristics of “real estate subject to condominium ownership or featuring a structure, or a plot of land designated for construction.” After this modification, it is no longer feasible to obtain citizenship through the purchase of agricultural land or undeveloped plots.

For foreign nationals seeking to obtain citizenship via the acquisition of immovable property, compliance with the following conditions are mandatory: the acquisition of a property valued at a minimum of 400,000 US Dollars, with a structure on it and an annotation placed in the land registry indicating that the property shall not be sold for a period of three years.
